Fundamental Tools
Show up, participate and complete your homework
Module 1 is about learning the fundamentals. The goal is to build fluency with the tools and concepts you'll rely on for the rest of the semester. Grades in this module reflect your effort and engagement, not the polish of your output.
Attendance
You are expected to attend every class and arrive on time. We meet once a week, so each session matters.
| Points | Criteria |
|---|---|
| 10 | Attended all Module 1 sessions and arrived on time |
| 8–9 | Missed one session |
| 5–7 | Missed two sessions or a pattern of late arrivals |
| 0–4 | Missed three or more sessions |
Participation
You are expected to follow along during walkthroughs, ask questions, help your classmates, and share what you've learned.
| Points | Criteria |
|---|---|
| 10 | Consistently engaged — followed along in class, asked or answered questions, contributed during discussions, and presented homework when asked |
| 7–9 | Generally engaged with occasional lapses — quiet during discussions or unprepared to present on one or two occasions |
| 4–6 | Minimal engagement — frequently distracted, rarely contributed to discussion, or regularly unprepared to share work |
| 0–3 | Disengaged — little evidence of participation beyond physical presence |
Homework
Most weeks include a homework assignment. These are graded on completion and effort, not quality.
| Points | Criteria |
|---|---|
| 10 | Submitted all homework assignments |
| 8–9 | Missed one assignment |
| 5–7 | Missed two assignments |
| 3–4 | Missed three or more assignments |
| 0–2 | Little to no homework submitted |
A submitted assignment means the work is done and the link or file has been sent to me. It does not need to be perfect and it does not need to be on time.
Grading Scale
Your Module 1 grade is the average of the three components.
| Average | Grade |
|---|---|
| 10 | A |
| 9 | A- |
| 8 | B+ |
| 7 | B |
| 5–6 | B-/C+ |
| 3–4 | C/C- |
| 1–2 | D |
| 0 | F |
