Join me. Put John Bones in the IRE Ring of Honor.

I invite you to join the campaign to induct Norwegian journalist John Bones into the Investigative Reporters and Editors hall of fame.

We aim to raise $2,500 to honor John’s contributions and support IRE’s mission: excellent, ambitious, empirical journalism.

A pioneer of data journalism in his home country of Norway, John was a global ambassador who united our field across borders, cultures and languages. After a long and productive life, he passed away last year.

I first met John in his role as the guide for a team of touring journalists attending the annual NICAR data journalism conferences here in America. I later learned he played similar roles all over the world, bringing professionals together to share skills and find fellowship.

I believe I’m one among hundreds touched by John’s intelligence, friendship and commitment. Let’s honor his leadership and support our shared movement.

You can make a tax-deductible gift by visiting the campaign page and clicking “Donate to this campaign.” Make sure that “IRE Ring of Honor - John Bones” is in the field where funds are directed.

Even if you can only give a small amount, your gift will make a difference. All contributions go to IRE’s general fund, which supports the training for working journalists that meant so much to John.
