Hello, New York! I'd like to introduce you to a new art school for data, design and, dare I say, journalism.
It's the SVA MPS Data Visualization and Communication program at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
Its world premiere is next Saturday, Nov. 22, in Chelsea at a free public event at the SVA Theatre on W. 23rd Street.
The founding faculty members will introduce themselves and share their approach to creating clear and convincing messages by blending art and science.
I'll start my unlikely journey as an art professor by interviewing Marco Hernandez, one of news's most inventive graphic artists. You'll also hear from Jeff Lewonczyk, Kelsey Nanan, Jen Ray and the department's chair, Jason Forrest.
