I talked up how Reuters reporters are inventing a new approach to breaking news by automating coverage of news-making data.
As an example, I walked through how we attacked oil prices and public opinion polls in the early hours of the Iran war, a topic I addressed in a deck I presented at a recent Reuters town hall.
I've attached a few slides from that presentation, which show how we're aiming our arsenal at "the top of the file." Some metrics have been redacted.
Later on in the interview, we dove into our industry's decline in open-source activity, a topic that Scott and I took on earlier this year with a piece published by OpenNews and Nieman Journalism Lab.
We closed by unpacking our excitement about the rise of the so-called vibecoder, and our shared optimism about what fun may come when they get their "GitHub moment."
